  • Where is the club

    Buckenham Sailing Club is on the southern bank of the River Yare, approximately 10 miles east of Norwich

    Directions from Norwich:

    Leave the A47 Southern by-pass or City Centre on A146 to Beccles. Almost immediately turn left at the traffic lights to Kirby Bedon & Bramerton. Follow that road throught the villages of Kirby Bedon, Bramerton, Rockland and Claxton for approximately 8 miles, then take left turn signposted to Buckenham Sailing Club and Beauchamp Arms Public House. At the end of the drive the Sailing Club is to the right and the pub to the left.

    Directions from Beccles:

    Travel towards Norwich and Loddon on A146; after approximately 6 miles take right signposted to Langley and Chedgrave. Take second left (as main road goes right). At end of Rectory Lane turn left and follow road for 3 miles. Turn right down drive to Buckenham Sailing Club and Beauchamp Arms Public House. At the end of the drive the Sailing Club is to the right and the pub to the left.

  • What do you sail

    Members of the club sail a variety of single handed and two crew boats. The most popular dinghies at present are Phantoms, Javelins, Lasers, Enterpises, Wayfarers and Leaders. Race results are determined using boat handicap times.

  • Can I sail

    All boats racing must be covered by third party insurance with a minimum indemnity of £1,000,000.

  • How is the club run

    The club is run on a voluntary basis. Members officiate races, crew the safety boat, serve in the galley, and undertake maintenance work during the close season.

  • What are the facilities

    The use of a slipway, quay and dinghy park. A safety boat which is manned on race days. The club house has changing rooms and a galley. Seats are placed outside in the summer time. A Leader is available for use at a nominal cost.

  • How much does it cost to join

    Family Subscription £72.00, covers two adults and all children under 18.

    New Family Members £36.00, first year only.

    Single Subscription £50.00.

    New Single Members £25.00, first year only.

    Senior Citizen £33.00.

    Student Subscription £22.00, covers person in full time education.

    Friend of BSC £22.00, which includes £10 for car park disc.

    Dinghy Berth £31.00.
